Posted: December 8, 2014

The Pollution Control Association of the Philippines Inc. Region 7, in collaboration with the Environmental Management Bureau Region 7,  conducted a PCO Intensive Training/Capacity Development Course based on the EMB specified module held on December 105, 2014 at Crown Regency Suites and Residences Covered Court – Convention Hall, Lapu-lapu City, Cebu.

Pursuant to the newly issued DENR Administrative Order 2014-02 (Revised Guidelines for Pollution Control Officer Accreditation), all private and public establishments/institutions that discharge solid, liquid, or gaseous wastes to the environment or whose activities, products, or services are actual and/or potential sources of pollution shall appoint a full-time Pollution Control Officer (PCO) and seek their accreditation with the Environmental Management Bureau – DENR. Under the same Administrative Order, existing Pollution Control Officers are also required to re-apply for accreditation. Part of the accreditation requirement is the completion of a 40-hour intensive training on environmental laws and related regulations.

In anticipation of the large number of PCOs in the Central Visayas Region requiring this training, two (2) batches will be held. The second batch of the Training will be held on January 26-30, 2015.

The seminar was attended by over 300 participants. The DENR Undersecretary and Concurrent EMB Director, Atty. Jonas R. Leones also visited during the 3rd day of the training.
